 #ADDADRUMTRACK

Hey drummers and drum enthusiasts! Join me as I record drum covers in a single take, without any post-production editing, quantizing, or syncing to click tracks. (Honestly, I prefer not to do things twice or waste time on editing.) I play drums purely for the love of it. Over the years, I've been part of numerous bands. Growing up in the 80s, I immersed myself in classic rock and prog, honing my drumming skills. In November 2023, I launched the @snare.hihat.bassdrum YouTube channel to document my journey back to drumming and everything related to it. I focus on capturing the essence of a song and finding that perfect drum pocket. There might be a few mistakes along the way, but I’ll keep pressing on and give it another shot with the next take. Wish me luck!

I grew up in the 80s listening to Van Halen, Iron Maiden, and Rush. Back then, there was fierce loyalty and pride associated with the band T-shirts you wore in public. Meanwhile, I was learning to play the drums, and I tuned into the likes of Lars, Charlie Benante, Dave Weckyl, Jeff Porcaro, and Jack DeJohnette trying to expand my drumming horizons.

After high school, I played over 2000 gigs across Canada and the United States, opening for bands of all sizes. Fast forward to 2024, my wife and I became empty nesters with some free time on my hands. That's when I decided to get back into drumming, and started the @snare.hihat.bassdrum YouTube channel.

I don’t pretend to be flawless, and you might notice a few mistakes along the way. These are live, unedited videos of me drumming along to my favorite tracks, and while some may shine brighter than others, if I can just find the pocket and capture the groove, even for a moment, I consider it a win. There’s truly no greater feeling than settling into a drum pocket where everything just clicks.

Perfection is the enemy of good. -Voltaire

Note: I record songs in only one take without any tricks like post-production editing, quantizing or locking to click tracks.  I'm all about capturing the feel that made me like that song in the first place and finding the drum pocket. And yes, there will be a couple of mistakes here and there, but just keep going and get back in the pocket like it's a live show.  Wish me luck! Fingers crossed!
