I do "One Take Drum Covers" of Songs that have iconic drum beats.
Welcome, drummers and music lovers! I’m here to share my journey through "One Take Drum Covers"—no post-production, no quantizing, and no click tracks. Just pure, honest drumming captured in the moment.
Growing up in the 80s, I cut my teeth on classic rock and prog before spending years gigging across North America. After a hiatus, I launched the @snare.hihat.bassdrum YouTube channel in November 2023 to document my return to the kit. My goal isn't technical perfection; it's about capturing the soul of a song and finding that perfect pocket. You’ll hear the raw, human side of the performance—mistakes and all—as I play for the love of the groove. Stick around, and wish me luck on the next take!
Growing up in the 80s, my world revolved around the giants of rock and prog—Van Halen, Iron Maiden, and Rush. It was an era defined by the band t-shirts we wore like badges of honor. During those formative years, I was obsessed with the drums, constantly studying the legendary work of Lars Ulrich, Charlie Benante, Dave Weckl, Jeff Porcaro, and Jack DeJohnette to expand my own musical horizons.
After high school, I spent years touring across North America, playing over 2,000 gigs and opening for acts of all sizes. Fast forward to 2024: with my wife and me settling into life as empty nesters, I found myself with a renewed hunger for the drum kit. That realization sparked the creation of my YouTube channel, @snare.hihat.bassdrum.
I don’t aim for flawless, studio-produced perfection. My channel features live, one-take drum covers—no post-production, no quantizing, and no click tracks. These videos are raw and honest. While you might spot a few mistakes along the way, my goal is to capture the soul of the song and find that elusive, perfect pocket. When everything clicks and the groove locks in, there is truly no better feeling in the world. Stick around, and join me as I keep chasing that pocket.
Perfection is the enemy of good. -Voltaire

Note: I record songs in only one take without any tricks like post-production editing, quantizing or locking to click tracks. I'm all about capturing the feel that made me like that song in the first place and finding the drum pocket. And yes, there will be a couple of mistakes here and there, but just keep going and get back in the pocket like it's a live show. Wish me luck! Fingers crossed!
